Student loan assistance programs are available and may or may not include student loan forgiveness.

There are a number of different student loan assistance programs out there for people who work in public service, education, health care, and other areas. Some states are even helping debt-saddled graduates pay off their loans.

The terms forgiveness, cancellation, and discharge all mean the same thing, but they are used in different ways. If you are no longer required to make payments on your loans due to your employment status, this is usually called forgiveness or cancellation. If you are no longer required to make payments on your loans due to other circumstances, such as total disability or the closure of the school where you received your loans, this is generally called discharge.

There are fifteen (15) or more programs available.  You can begin your process for FREE by visiting the Federal Student Aid website, or if you are like many who are too busy, you may use a third party data document processing service provider like *SLACInc; they will do all the work for you. Fees will apply when using a third party like *SLACInc.

*SLAC is a for-profit business that for a fee assists in compiling, preparing and processing paperwork for people seeking consolidation, restructuring and/or forgiveness of their federal student loans through the U.S. Department of Education’s (“DOE”) programs. · SLAC is not affiliated with and has no special relationship with the DOE or any other academic or governmental entity. · This site and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the DOE, and the content or any information posted on this site is not endorsed by and does not reflect the views of the DOE. · You can apply for loan consolidation or alternative repayment programs on your own without paid assistance through the DOE at Studentloans.gov. SLAC is not a loan servicer and does not renegotiate, settle, or in any way alter the terms of any payment or debt.
